Brompton G-Line Folding Compact Kit – Reduce Folding Width

Tools Required:

• M5 4mm hex key
• M4 3mm hex key
• Medium-strength thread locker

Installation Steps:

1. Remove the Original Catch Ball

• Use a 4mm hex key or torque wrench to remove the original Catch Ball.
• Note: It may be tightly secured—apply steady force.

2. Prepare for Installation

• Take out the new Catch Ball, screws, and washers.
• Apply a small drop of thread locker to the screw.

3. Install the New Catch Ball

• Align the new Catch Ball properly.
• Use a 3mm hex key or torque wrench to secure it.
• Tighten to 3Nm torque—do not overtighten.

(Optional) Adjusting the Folding Clearance

To fine-tune the gap between the handlepost and front fork when folded, you may use M4 flat washers placed inside the 4mm groove on the inner side of the Catch Ball.

Washer Specs:

• 9mm x 1mm
• 8mm x 0.5mm

Recommended Setups:

• L Size G Line:
  2 × 9mm x 1mm washers
• M Size G Line (with Fidlock magnetic bottle holder):
  1 × 9mm x 1mm washer + 1 × 8mm x 0.5mm washer
• S Size G Line (with Fidlock magnetic bottle holder):
  1 × 9mm x 1mm washer

These spacers help reduce friction and improve the folding clearance depending on your setup.

4. Verify Installation

• Ensure the Catch Ball is securely in place.
• Test the folding mechanism to ensure smooth operation.
